Rhassoul: The Cleansing Clay

Ingredient Spotlight: RHASSOUL CLAY

Rhassoul is a clay that is very rich in minerals and is an exceptional ingredient for skin and hair care. It originates from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. It is also known as Red Moroccan Clay. It is formed as a result of natural geothermal processes and volcanic activity.  Rhassoul is found deep in the earth which makes it rich in trace minerals. It contains Silica, Magnesium, Iron, Sodium, Potassium and Lithium. These minerals help detoxify skin and remove oils that create problem skin.

Rhassoul Clay improves skins texture, reduces dryness and flakiness, and enhances skin clarity and elasticity. It can absorb impurities and unblock pores, even stubborn blackheads resulting in a general smoothing of the surface skin.

Rhassoul Clay has a foaming effect and is a great grease remover. These properties make it a great natural shampoo for certain types of hair. It is one of the few types of clay that is gentle enough to be used on its own as a daily face cleanser. In soap, it becomes something quite special. Rhassoul soap is great for shaving and leaves the skin feel soft and supple.

Sidebar...while researching for this blog post I found another blog using my Rhassoul soap photographs. I have to admit I was a bit flattered.
