Who Knew?

I would love to share the history of the bobby pin with you but there are so many different stories, I don’t think we’ll ever know the truth. What I do know is that the bobby pin was invented around the same time women started to wear their hair in bob styles. In some accounts this is where the name "bobby pin" comes from.

Well, vintage hair styles are back and so are these handy little pins. If you haven’t been the victim of someone’s pin curling obsession, you just haven’t lived. When it goes wrong, it’s really wrong, but when it’s right… a head full of luscious waves and curls, instant bombshell.

Now you may not think you would need directions for such a simple product. Apparently you do because my family has managed to misuse these pins for decades. The straight side goes on top. Yes, it makes perfect sense now that the mistake has been pointed out. I won’t beat myself up too bad though; I am obviously in very good company. The many, many, many post on Pinterest let me know, I am not the only one who got it wrong.

Today, bobby pins are available in more than just blond, auburn and brunette. No longer are they meant to be hidden, you can purchase every color in the rainbow. Platinum is still my favorite. They are adorned with everything from bling, to stars and flowers. While, I love all of the interesting ways the bobby pin is being worn, a single beautiful pin is just my style.
