Rooibos...The Beauty Tea
Found in South Africa, rooibos tea, also called red bush
tea, is an herbal tea derived from the leaves of the Aspalathus linearis bush
plant. It is not a true tea, but an herb. The health benefits of red rooibos
tea are abundant. The caffeine free herb is red in color and has a smooth
mellow taste that is quite pleasing.
Rooibos tea packs a powerhouse of antioxidants, including
two polyphenols called aspalathin (which is unique to rooibos) and nothofagin
(which is only found in rooibos and the New Zealand red beech). These amazing
substances protect our bodies from the cell-damaging effects of free radicals. Rooibos is also a source of the many vitamins listed.
